Foundation for Second Chances 5th Annual Gift of Giving Event.

This Christmas, LA-based grassroots nonprofit, Foundation for Second Chances (FFSC) invites 150 underprivileged children and their families to join them for our 5th Annual Gift of Giving! While many of us may think of Christmas as a pleasant time to spend with family and friends, to celebrate the birth of Christ, to enjoy good food, and to exchange gifts, for many of the families within FFSC’s community Christmas can be a discouraging and strenuous time, rather than one full of joy. Many of our families cannot afford to give their children Christmas gifts, nor can they afford to share a nice holiday meal. However, the Gift of Giving annual Christmas Celebration brightens the holiday season for 150 underprivileged youth and families by providing them with a day of fun and games, a warm holiday meal, and Christmas gifts for all. The primary goal of this event is to bring back hope and encouragement to these families as we raise the spirit of holiday cheer.

It is with the generosity of others in our community that we host this free event. While the response in supporting the Gift of Giving has been overwhelming, we are still in need of gift card donations (e.g. Target, Wal-Mart, Vons, Food for Less, et cetera), and help all year round for our other programs. Foundation for Second Chances offers unique opportunities to get involved in volunteer and leadership capacities!

FFSC’s mission is to utilize hands-on education, mentoring, health awareness and community service to maximize the potential of youth. Our programs include Foundation for Second Chances Mentoring, Reading Wheels Literacy Program, and various large Community Service Projects that include our annual Gift of Giving, Health Festival, and Kids’ Day.
