Arroyo Grande, California –
The Clark Center for the Performing Arts will welcome the Father of Bluegrass to the stage, with the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 8pm.
The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band consists of dyed-in-the-wool traditional players with over 100 years of combined live gigging experience. Roots music icon Peter Rowan has blazed trails across an unsurpassed range of musical territory.
Grammy-award winner and five-time Grammy nominee, Peter Rowan has a career spanning over five decades. After his early years playing under the tutelage of bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe and following his stint in Old & In the Way with Jerry Garcia, Rowan broke out as both a solo performer and bandleader and built a devoted, international fan base through his continuous stream of original recordings, collaborative projects, and constant touring. Joining Rowan onstage is Jody Stecher on the mandolin, Keith Little on the banjo and Paul Knight on bass. The ensemble has graced the stages of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Grey Fox, Merlefest, Rothbury and numerous other festivals, entertaining audiences with original songs executed in vibrant harmony.
The Band released their debut album in September 2010 and delivered a hefty dose of inspired singing and traditionally-informed but fresh original songs that bear Rowan’s unmistakable stamp. The album is a compelling set that reaffirms Rowan’s stature as an unsurpassed master and has been nominated for a 2011 Grammy Award for best Bluegrass Album.
Don’t miss the group that is known as a major cult figure among bluegrass aficionados – the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band at the Clark Center on February 5th!
